BMY
bought in 50 shares at $19.61 fill this morning. This will be my first medical/health sector stock, so i'm hoping the diversification is worthwhile. Bloomberg had a guy on this morning talking about the sector, and that it's going to be pretty flat for a while, but 2-3 years or so, things should pick back up. Thus, he said he thinks now is a once in 10-years buying opportunity for solid companies. I'll gamble $1000 on that ![]() it was over $30 about a year ago, so there's hope to head back there and then some after this whole recession crap. speaking of, greenspan said today that we are 'on the brink' of a recession. brink of recession eh? why is he still talking? why are people still listening? all he does is create chaos. he needs to go into hiding for a while. i hate all this speculation movement in the market. it's bad enough the market dumps 3% whenever bernanke is on tv. blech...
as for bmy, we have been following this for a while. decent dividend yield of 5.6% forecasted eps of $1.90 for 2009 12 month target price of $26/share. it's a good buy, i wouldn't call it a "strong" buy, but a definite buy and good addition to a diverse portfolio. $18.50-$19 would be a good buy, but $19.61 isn't too bad. |

mainly, because most of them are down so it's stupid to even consider it, and its 401k/roth money that i'm playing with.... half of which is my company's contrib anyway so, until i'm down 50%, i'm up

plus you aren't struggling for money. it's a lot easier to keep invested when you have steady income and a savings. we have people who are in such dire need, they are taking out 7% margin loans on stock that is falling in the market. *shakes head*

looks like they have a blood clot drug trying to pass through the FDA. if that goes through, it should see a jump.

i'm 28, and i'm living pretty good. i dont have much savings... mainly because its not worth it. .4% interest is a waste of my time. i have a little saved for rainy days, etc... but for the most part, i 'save' in a roth. i put 200 a month into that from my own pocket (post tax), and then i do 175+175 from work into my simpleira (basically a 401k for small offices) pre tax of course. everything else, i dump into extra on my mortgage payment or cars. why earn .4% on it, when i can shave it off a 7% loan over the course of 30 years? that 100 bucks i save will give me 150 bucks in 30 years... or, that extra 100 bucks i put on pricipal will save me 20,000 probably on the mortgage (random number from air... not sure on exact math) i'm playing with my money in high risk and long term investments. i look at this crap market as opportunity. i WANT to lose money over the next 3 years. then, i'm done. everything will bounce back (that doesn't go under... but i think i'm pretty safe there) eventually, and these low prices will be impossible to get in on again. |

yeah, that is the right mentality.
save 6 months for "what if" situations put money into retirement funds live comfortable gamble the rest.... it doesn't take much to figure out that process. |
