I don't understand, I can only spend 200 out of 1400. is the rest used by the bank as loans, and expenses for other people and the 200 for personal use? I ask this because 200 out of 1400 seems a bit too low.<br />

It isn't true if you have 1,400 you can spend it all. If you just deposited the money they might hold it until it clears but it is yours after that.

Geee , B of A lets me spend ALL my $$$$ . . .
Have never heard of this , unless you are talking about the ATM cash withdrawal per day . Most of us spend it at the stores we need to buy stuff from . Need groceries , swipe the card . Need gas , swipe the card . And they won't let you buy more than $200 of gas , groceries and whatever ? 40 years , Never heard of this .> |

I believe there is a daily limit, but $200 is pretty low. You may have deposited $1200 of it that they are waiting to clear, which is why you are only allowed to spend $200.

What are you talking about? If you truly have 1400 in your account (cleared) then you can use all of it. If you just depositied some of this, then it may not yet be "available" because the checks have not cleared.
The bank does not lock up a portion of your account and loan it out. |

An ATM will limit the amount you can withdraw. If you go inside the bank or use a check, you can spend it all, and you can even overdraft and owe a fine for spending beyond what you have in the bank. The ATM's limit what you can withdraw so that other people stand a chance of getting cash out of the same machine before it is emptied out.

Call the bank. If you're account balance is 1400 and it's all fully available (meaning that you didn't recently make a deposit and some of it is on hold) then you should be able to spend the entire amount of 1400.00. There's a few things that could be going on. If debit card protection services thinks that some of your activity seems a little unusual and they're concerned about it they will sometimes restrict your card from all activity until you call them or they will sometimes restrict any purchases over a certain amount. You may have a partial restriction which would account for you only being able to use 200 dollars of your balance. Or it may be possible that some how your card ended up with purchase restrictions. You have daily limits where you can withdraw at the ATM machine up to a certain amount and make purchases up to a certain amount but it's very rare for them to be as low as 200 dollars unless the customer requested for them to be that low. The customer service centers will be open from 8 am to 10 pm tomorrow your local time and the number to call is on the back of your card. I suggest calling in the morning however because recently nights have been really busy.
