I have read conflicting lists of things needed when you apply for a mortgage...
do i need to have my last 2 years worth of W-2's or do i need my last 2 years of tax returns? I have my tax returns online, but i have absolutely no idea where my W-2's are. What other documents would I need so that we are prepared? Thanks! |

I am working on a mortgage now and just got the last of the paperwork and docs together. I needed 2 years W-2's (returns are not acceptable), 1 month of paystubs, 2 months of bank statements (all pages), copy of BK (all pages including discharge), copy of DL and SS. It wasn't as bad as I thought, although I had to contact our BK lawyer from 4 years ago for those papers-they are MIA in my files.

Depending on your circumstances, you may have to provide both. I did.
If you cannot find your W2, your employer should easily be able to get you copies. |

The standard requirements are as follows:
1) Last 2 pay stubs, unless you are paid weekly. 2) Last 2 months bank statements for all accounts, all pages 3) Most recent copy of Retirement account statement 4) Last 2 yrs W-2's if you are salaried. If you are either self-employed or commission based then you would need last 2 yrs tax returns including all schedules 5) Legible copy of both your Drivers License and your social security card. 6) Documentation of any other assets or income you are showing. |
