Default Types of Income

There are three types of Income:
  1. Earned
  2. Portfolio
  3. Passive
Earned Income refers to positive cash flow from a job or other vocation in which one physically does something for cash reward, in most cases, "work".

Portfolio Income refers to positive cash flow originating from stocks, bonds, and other items an investor would typically have in his/her "portfolio"

Passive income refers to positive cash flow without having to work. This income type includes rental property income, interest from savings, royalties, etc. In most cases, "no work".
