So on HS you know I just got a raise. I have never gotten a one time raise of 2.50 an hour before. I remember back in the day when I got a quarter raise at Arby's and it was the best thing ever. lol

I magically have enough money to pay my credit card statement, two months of my water bill, AND my verizon bill. It's amazing. I feel so much better today.

Coming this March I'll have that credit card paid down and one other bill done that I won't ever have to think about again.

This garnishment has been a pain in the ass, but things are starting to look up I think.

I don't like buying useless shit. I've just been paying bills and eating a little more. lol

Still not going to give up my one night at the bar, other than that I'm working the debt down and getting rid of it the best I can first. In three years time I'll be better off.

PBR costs the same as a bottle of Bud, which tastes better. lol

Well some more good news. Chase just halved my Escrow account, dropping my mortgage another 100 bucks, it's back to where it was in 2007 when I first bought the house, and I'll be receiving a refund check for 1667 dollars. I have to figure out how to use this accordingly to pay something off.

On top of that Frontier (Verizon) is upping my tv services 30 bucks a month, (surprisingly, this is good news) ... because they are offering free TV for a year if I call and switch my Video services to DirecTV. I have had DTV and hated it, but free service for 12 months?!? Um, yes please! That should cut my bill by another 1/3rd.

My only problem is the fact that I could tell Brian and give him a break on his rent, but maybe another month or two? He just took a slight paycut to go to a different department at his work, and he's been there through the thick and thin with me and this rollercoaster that has been my mortgage payment.

I don't believe rents should go down. Perhaps a few bucks if he's going to be effected by the different tv service/etc. but that should be worked out between you two so everyone is happy and bills get paid.

True. the rent is 450, all inclusive... so if the TV services ends up cheaper then I'll lower it, but I was considering dropping 50 because the mortgage dropped 100, but at the same time if I can get everything paid for within two weeks then we'll both have a few paychecks to be able to breathe with.

You are looking at this wrong. It is your house your equity and you should be rewarded for that. I would under no circumstance "lower" rent for any roommate even if they were a friend. If he is paying 450.00 for all inclusive then you by no means are required to lower it if you get a break on a utility either. He understood what he was getting for his dollar. Likewise you cannot raise his rent if a utility goes up. That is unless you mutually agree that you want to up the price on something. I also would keep my finances to myself as a friend/landlord to any roomate. He should have no business knowing your finance as a friend. All he should know how to do is write your name on the rent check and sign it.

I have a friend of mine that owns a 4 bedroom house. He rents out three of the rooms to his two cousins and another mutual friend. Between the three roommates they COVER his mortgage completely. On top of the rent they all split the bills equally in four parts. The roommates are also expected to help with yard work and snow removal in the winter time. They do not know his financial situation - all they know is that they are paying a great price to live in a house. Their "rent" is less than they would pay for an single bedroom apt in my area. No harm no foul and everyone is happy.

I say keep the rent the same with your roomie (even if it is your best friend) since it is your mortgage and your house. You deserve to get the better end of the deal and use it to your advantage.

Just my .o2

I know I know. lol

It was a good .02. I appreciate it, because not listening to this has screwed me over with my cousin. But I know Brian won't do that at the same time.

Everyone can screw you over. It might not even be personal. E is screwing me over by being unemployed and home all the time, there for running up my power bill lol

In return, I've tried to cut back my personal power useage. I've been trying to stay on a more daytime hour awakeness (which is not my forte). I also switched to my 22" monitor instead of running my big 30". I also watch less tv on my big screen, and more on my bedroom tv.

E bumped the bill ~$40, and I was able to cut about ~$20 back for a $20 gain, which still is more than I would like. Still I have no made him pay $20 more a month for rent as a result. He has been a good house mate, so i can't complain.
