Default how do companies like this stay in business?

Ford posts $8.7 billion loss on asset write-downs: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

Ford. 8.x billion LOSS this quarter.
6.x billion in the previous....

i mean, 14 billion in less than 1 year? how can companies like this still go on in buisness.

it's not like this is a one time thing either.. every year they post losses. HOW?

How did Enron keep posting GAINS.....

it's all accounting. They might be counting depreciating of land and factories. Possible write downs on materiels and investments.

It's tricky, possibly illegal, and hard to catch. But if you follow GAAP, i'm sure it happens more than it should.
