Question Gas Prices

what does everyone think about gas prices. Who is to blame? how high will it go? What will you do during the time of high gas prices.

I just watch the movie "who killed the electric car" it was great. If you haven't seen it, check it out. Check your local library and see if they have a copy.

Gas prices are increasing and are going to increase. Our relationships with oil producing countries are extremely strained right now. Gas closed at over $90/barrell last week. Things are going to get worse.

If you want to point a finger, you need your whole hand. I could expound on this quite a bit, but i'll try to keep it short.

1) The U.S. government. We put trade sanctions on Iran recently, and this will drive our oil prices up. They have a lot of reserves, but we are limiting the amount they are able to buy/sell/trade/produce.

Our government is also not on good terms with Venezuela. If we were, we would have more oil available.

2)China. They are using a ridiculous amount of oil in their economic growth. we are not the only country that uses a lot of oil, so now it is more competitive in the pricing.

3) Motor companies. They have strong relationships with the oil companies that ensure we are going to need to use petroleum for years to come.

4) The oil companies. There hasn't been a new refinery built in over 30 years. we can't refine more oil than we actually even get here.

This is just a short explanation. If you want to research the subject, you could write a whole book on economic theories of the oil industry. The u.s. has less than 1/20th of the worlds population and uses something like 30% of the oil. The numbers aren't right. Things really aren't that bad. Many countries pay more for gas than we do. It's not uncommon in europe to pay $5/gallon. And that would be a low price for it.

The moral of the story is to commute less and use less oil. I pretty much only drive for recreation now. I don't commute with a car or make several short trips. My car time is pretty much going to the tracks or other entertainment.

the kicker of it all.... is that gas is STILL about 80 cents cheaper a gallon right now than it was in the weeks following katrina... when oil was $75 a barellel.

and mobil turns 289 billion in profit a year.

redic.

govt = oil.

we need to get the bastards who have ties to big oil the fuck out of office

you know what this will do? this will increase the cost of goods sold around the country. companies will have to pay more to get the same products shipped to them. we are screwed either way. this wont help in any way, shape, or form.
