Clintons report $109 million in income over 7 years
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton and former president Bill Clinton reported income of $109.2 million for 2000 to 2007 on Friday, paying taxes of $33.8 million for that period, reports said.
Hillary Clinton has been under pressure to release her tax returns as rival Barack Obama posted his from 2000 to 2006 on his web site last week.
But neither Obama nor Republican nominee-in-waiting John McCain have released their 2007 tax records.
The Clintons listed $10.25 million in charitable contributions over those seven years.
The Wall Street Journal cited Clinton's campaign spokesman Jay Carson as saying the couple have now made thirty years of tax returns public, "a record matched by few people in public service." He was referring to returns the Clintons made when Bill Clinton first ran for president in 1992 and when he was president.
"None of Hillary Clinton's presidential opponents have revealed anything close to this amount of personal financial information," Carson said, according to the Journal.
Clinton is trailing Obama in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. He currently leads by 134 delegates with just a handful of nominating contests left to go. The next up is Pennsylvania's primary on April 22.
