Default Turbotax good?

With the house, my shareholding in part of a stock and income tax, should I just get turbotax and do my own taxes this year or pay a professional again?

I've done my taxes before the house and they were easy, but I'm worried I may mess something up.

i use taxcut. professionals are over-rated IMO.

taxcut comes with audit support too, so if you ever get audited for a return you filed through them, they will front the litigation costs.

using a professional is overrated. i read on msn that tax professionals make more mistakes than people doing it at home. often mistakes come from just running through forms and reports since they do so many. they just make errors. people who do their own taxes are very conservative and more meticulous.

I say it depends on how simple or complicated your tax return is.

My job is to save my clients as much money as possible.
We also get to fix mistakes that other "professionals" have made.
All depends on who you go to. If they know their stuff then it can be money well spent. But if you just have a W2 and some itemized deductions then do it yourself.

i say use a professional if you have a small business or several properties/investements. it isn't too hard if you just have a w-2 or a 1099.

lol, in simple terms, it is. for common stuff you should be able to do it yourself on turbo tax. if you are smart enough to earn a legit w-2 and not work under the table picking strawberries, you can operate the tax software.
