And I'm the new admin over here
![]() I recently purchased the site from the former owners, and I hope to turn it around into one of the premier financial sites online. I'm looking for a couple people who would like to volunteer for moderator positions as well, so send me a pm if you are interested. I have my graphics guy working on a theme, so ignore the bland-ness for right now. It will be pretty soon

Brian, I am a frequent contributor to your other site, ConflictingViews.com. Thought I'd check this out for fun also. I have been investing and counseling (unprofessionally) to kids and family for years. If you do half as well with this, you will be rich. Continued success.

It's because most young people assume they will have plenty of it "one day" and old people that do not have it have given up.

It's rather unfortunate, but most everyone i know (local friends, late 20's) don't have a dime saved to their name. Everyone is living pay check to pay check and not preparing for the future. There's only so much i can do to help them, but the fact is that they don't make enough to live comfortably as it is.... how can they save?
10% of nothing isn't much money :X |

Everyone can save something. Let me repeat, everyone can save something. Stop going to Starbuck's and save 40 bucks a week. Pack a lunch instead of going to Burger King - save another 40 bucks a week. $80 a week is more than 4 grand a year. And that does not count any IRA savings they throw in. My sense is that they just do not care enough about the future to begin saving today.

The deeper issue is that a lot of them already do this. coffee made at home in a travel cup, and brought-in lunches, etc.
i agree that there's always something to cut back on. i myself am rather guilty of blowing money on stupid things instead of saving it. but, i'm at the point in my life know where i have everything i could ever need or want. Only things i will be buying in the near future are things for the house (like a lawn mower, etc, as i live in a condo now and don't have any of that). otherwise, i have the big screen tv with the surround sound, i have the car of my dreams, i have a g/f who makes decent money too, so she's not too needy (she buys her own stupid purses ) so other than my mortgage, i really don't have to splurge on too many things.once my car is paid off, i'll be able to bank/invest nearly 2k a month. in the meantime, i have a roommate moving in with me in the house (and possibly the g/f later on down the road) to help split the cost. which leaves me paying for only 2/3 of the house that is 100% my investment.
