I am thinking of getting a credit card. A virgin credit card to be precise. I wanted to know if it was worth it. I have heard bad things about credit cards, but I am looking to buy my first car, and I will be on the road all the time, so I figure I get a credit card with no annual fee, low interest rate and no interest if you pay in full by the month gone. Virgin has this. Are credit cards just a waste of time and should I just keep saving in my bank or should I get a card and if something bad happens to the car I can pay it off on the card so I can stay on the road and just pay off the card in my own due time?<br />

Good to have a credit card. Many places, its convenient to pay w/ a credit card. No need to carry $$ & change around.

I would encourage you to save up enough money to buy your own car, as it will be yours and you won't have any payments. While driving the car continue to save money so that when the first car dies, you have enough money to buy another one.
I recommend staying away from credit cards and just using your own money for everything. While saving your money, put it in a Money Market account where it will gain interest. |

get this: CitiŽ BronzeŽ/AAdvantageŽ MasterCardŽis by far the most widely used card. It is essential for regular travelers with average credit. Its reward program gives you an additional mile per $2 spent on the card. You can collect up to 25,000 miles annually, and can be redeemed for flights on partner airlines, hotel accommodations throughout the world, and car rentals. Additional benefits are: zero liability for unauthorized transactions, travel accident insurance and various Internet account associated services. The card does not charge any annual fee. But the drawback is the minimum APR cap for cash advances, set at 19.99%

If you can get all these benefits you are describing, then having a credit card with a low limit (say $1000) is a good idea for emergencies - especially if your car breaks down. Or, if you have an emergency and need to rent a vehicle, or book a hotel room, you will need a credit card.

If you are getting your first car you will need to have credit so yes you should get a credit card to establish your credit. Just don't overdo it. You will need good credit if you go to buy a home someday. Visit http://www.phontron.info about credit information. Thanks, Kevin
