Default Which major should I go for?

I am proficient in both English and Math, my standardized test scores are even in both areas. I am not very good with Science or computers. I want to major in something that will make me a lot of $$$$ that not a lot of other people are going for. Any ideas? (please exclude nursing, physical therapy, business management, and psychology.. I know I don't want to major in any of those)<br />

There's a lot more money in math than English.

Speak with your college counselor. Only you can decide. Everyone wants to make money, but many people often change their majors during college because something else grabs their attention.

While this site doesn't show you the kind of figures you'll be making it does give you can outlook on things.

Good luck.

Major in something you enjoy. Besides, most graduates never get a job in their field of study anyway. If you really want a job with potential, go to tech school and learn a trade.

I know it's a bit of a cliche' answer, but you should really just aim for what you are passionate about. I, myself, went after money originally and ended up being mind-numbingly bored in a job I hated. The money didn't do me ANY good because my job depressed the hell out of me. I turned around, decided what I was passionate about, and am now in LOVE with my job. I don't make as much money, true, but I don't NEED as much because my life is satisfying enough without the surplus of material things that a &quot;bigger checkbook&quot; could buy. I know you might not believe it now, but money isn't everything. Do what you WANT to do, and you will earn enough money to be satisfied.

Go for something in finance if you're good at math. Either that or you can get a general degree like Liberal Arts or English. By the time you get your degree, you should have a direction of where you want to go. Go into the field of your choice and get a Master's degree.

Why not major in finance and get into investment banking. It deals with math, but has the potential to earn a lot of money. You could minor in English out of personal interest and to be well rounded.

If you major in math, your only option might be teaching. You might also want to consider electronics engineering, which deals with quite a bit of math and also pays well, but you may have to relocate to get a job in that field.

The top ten jobs for the next decade have not been invented yet. Go to college as an undeclared major and investigate while you are there. If you really like math, consider engineering undeclared, and then look at all the options while you meet the core classes. Most colleges only require that you meet the core of your first major and engineering has a short core list. If you get an engineering degree, you could get a math degree to boot with as little as 12-15 additional hours. Nothing like getting 2 for 1.
